April 20--Korean consumer electronics giant Samsung's latest flagship smartphones -- Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus -- will be available in Bahrain from April 28, it has emerged.
This was announced during an unveiling event organised by Samsung Gulf Electronics in partnership with authorised distributor Bin Hindi Informatics at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain.
The Galaxy S8 builds on Samsung's heritage of creating stunning designs and functional devices. Available in 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+, "infinity display" and bezel-less design form a smooth, continuous surface with no buttons or harsh angles.
"The Galaxy S8 and S8+ represent, not just the launch of a brand new device in the region, but a whole new way to create experiences," said Samsung Gulf Electronics head of IT and mobile (IM) division Tarek Sabbagh.
As a special launch offer, Samsung is offering the buyers of Galaxy S8 and S8+ a one-time 30 per cent discount on flight bookings with Etihad Airways.
"Furthermore, customers will be able to save up to 40pc on hotel bookings worldwide and enjoy an extra 12pc off coupon in partnership with hotels.com. This offer is exclusively available to customers in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and Kuwait," said Mr Sabbagh.
Key features include: IP68 water and dust resistance, MicroSD support up to 256GB, always-on display, fast and wireless charging capabilities.
The devices are also the launch platform for the introduction of Bixby -- an intelligent personal assistant developed by Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be available across major retailers in Bahrain from April 28.
The S8 is priced at BD290 ($759) and the S8 Plus at BD330 ($864).
