BRIEF: Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi suspended for game against Vancouver Whitecaps

The Oregonian — Jamie Goldberg The Oregonian, Portland, Ore.

April 19--Portland Timbers striker Fanendo Adi has been suspended by MLS for one game and will miss the club's match against the Vancouver Whitecaps Saturday.

The MLS Disciplinary Committee suspended Adi and issued the forward an undisclosed fine for throwing a high elbow at Sporting Kansas City defender Ike Opara while the two players were jostling for position in the box in the 26th minute last Saturday.

Adi is tied for second in MLS in goals scored this season with five.

It is likely that Timbers forward Darren Mattocks will start against his former team in place of Adi Saturday.
