Ryan Zimmerman was already going down in the record books as one of the greatest Washington Nationals of all time. His accomplishment Monday just punctuated that fact.

In the first inning of Monday's matinee against the Cincinnati Reds, Zimmerman followed up Bryce Harper's three-run home run with a solo shot. In the process, he passed Vladimir Guerrero as the all-time franchise leader in home runs with the 235th bomb of his career, and 20th of the season.

Zimmerman was the first draft pick the franchise made when it moved from Montreal to D.C. in 2005.

The slugging first baseman has had a resurgent season, batting .322/.369/.582 prior to Monday's game, earning him his first All-Star appearance since 2009.

Vladdy himself was impressed, offering his congratulations to the longtime face of the Nationals.

Records are made to be broken, congratulations to Ryan Zimmerman, being No. 2 is not bad πŸ˜ƒβšΎοΈ https://t.co/QmFbrsmSDdβ€” Vladimir Guerrero (@VladGuerrero27) July 17, 2017
